Are our Children Being Enslaved by Technology?

I don’t remember the time when I saw high school kids without their technological gadgets; smart phones, tablets, iPads, you name it.

According to a research study, the routine of a kid incorporates up to 45% blue light exposure that radiates from the screens. Some researchers believe that dependence on innovation is debilitating children; they can't perform the easily overlooked details that were once viewed as a typical thing without the use of technology.

There is no unequivocal response to the inquiry whether the innovation is weakening our children, nonetheless, it is sure that our youngsters are not as dynamic as our guardians used to be or as we used to be the point at which we were children. It would not be right to say that sooner rather than later, we will be much more subject to the innovation as we are today. Here is a rundown of things that get affected by the increased use of technology:

  • Attention/focus: Children who invest an excessive amount of energy in the sofa, after some time, lose their capacity to focus or center.
  • Social aptitudes: As kids invest more energy before the portable workstation screens and PDAs, they lose their capacity to associate with other kids. Research demonstrates that kids who invest more energy inside as opposed to using it with an organized open air recreational hardware are more inclined to social issues who invest additional time outside.
  • Language aptitudes: Another real thing that children endure the most is the dialect expertise of the tyke. At the point when the kids play around in a commercial playground, they take in the non-verbal communication and connect with their peers. Technology takes that away.

Those 45 Minutes of Recess: Are They Any Good?

As soon as the bell rings, a wave of thrill runs through the drained students who have probably waiting for that bell all day. Recess holds a significant position in school life, but is it as important as we think it is? And, most importantly, how much of a break is necessary; does the 30-45 minute general break is enough for the day?

Research suggests that recess gives tykes a cerebral rest that allows them to retain the information that they have garnered all day in class. In addition, the brief period of rest also allows them to digest the information; children understand what they learned in class better if they have time to process all the information. During recess children not only get to free themselves of academic stress, but also get the chance to enrich their creativity through school playground equipment and other play structures.

So are those 45 minutes good enough? Researchers suggest that the 45 minutes are more than enough, but children could use a couple of more minutes. Most research suggests that children who have longer break periods retain and process more than the kids who do not utilize the break period. It is extremely crucial for children to make the most out of their break. There is a certain kind of joy attached to the outdoor playground equipment that cannot be garnered through any other activity, not even the P.E. class.

On average, a child needs to have at least 60-85 minute of active play per day. Your child will not necessarily get that from the school break, so make sure that at home he gets ample time to participate in active play. The most common forms of active play include imaginative play and various forms of unstructured play.

When Children Become Impossible, Should You Lose Your Rag?

Life with a 3-year-old is not exactly what you would call a walk in the park. In fact, it is nowhere near anything like the walk in the park. Don’t get me wrong, it is amazing to have a toddler; they are an absolute bundle of joy. However, sometimes these little, fragile daisies can turn into nerve wrecking monsters, and I mean like they can really piss the shit out of you. I cannot even begin to imagine the life of a mother who handles 2-3 children. I mean just imagine the rumpus she would have to deal with on the daily basis. I just get to take 3-year-old niece to her favorite playground so she can play with her favorite outdoor playground equipment once in a while and that makes my head spin. Anyway, as parents and caregivers to children, we have to do our best to make sure that children get to have the best possible learning that aids in their cognitive and physical development, but, what to do if the kids are making our job impossible? This blog discusses how moms and dads can stay calm when children make things hard.

Why Children React the Way They React?

The first and the foremost thing for every parent and child caregiver to understand is the children’s behavior in certain situations. There are certain things to which children react the worse, and their certain things that calm the monster in them. Now what are those two sets of things. To understand these two sets of things, you have to understand your child. Play on the commercial playground equipment or hang around in the backyard, whatever you can do to spend more time with kids. You have to learn more about your child and that is only possible when you spend enough time with him. I know what you are thinking; kids can create hell for some parents. To cheer you up about parenting in those tough times, here are some of the quotes on parenting that you must read:

God put us here to prepare this place for the next generation. That's our job. Raising children and helping the community, that's preparing for the next generation.
Dikembe Mutombo

I think that enduring, committed love between a married couple, along with raising children, is the most noble act anyone can aspire to. It is not written about very much.
Nicholas Sparks

Women are, in my view, natural peacemakers. As givers and nurturers of life, through their focus on human relationships and their engagement with the demanding work of raising children and protecting family life, they develop a deep sense of empathy that cuts through to underlying human realities.
Daisaku Ikeda

Perhaps the soundest advice for parents is: Lighten up. People have been raising children for approximately as long as there have been people.
George Will

Raising children is a creative endeavor, an art rather than a science.
Bruno Bettelheim

So should you lose yourself when children make it hard for you? Absolutely not. Be patient with them, there’s always a polite way to reinforce a certain behavior in children. Positive and negative reinforcement can go a long way in helping kids tame their behavior.
