The Horrors of Over-Parenting



What kind of a parent are you? This question usually angers most parents because we all believe that we are bets at what we do, especially parenting. I am pretty sure that you are confident about your parenting style and that you have done an amazing job raising your children. But have you ever wondered why most parents have trouble with their children, especially teens? You are Stripping their Confidence Off

The first and the most dangerous thing associated with over parenting is the lack of self-confidence in children. When you are constantly hovering above your child, supervising him each and every activity, you make him lose his confidence for making his own decisions. You should allow your kids to have some time to themselves, so they can learn to cope with issues on their own. A playground or an outdoor playground equipment are the elements that require total freedom. Without this freedom, children will not be able to unleash their creativity and learn. So, make sure that you are not supervising your child all the time, while he engages in active play.


You are Making them Rebellious

A growing body of research suggests that when children are constantly monitored or told what to do, they lose themselves and become rebellious. We are all aware of the rebellious youth issues and how they turn children to drugs. Parents rarely blame themselves when it come sot rebellious kids. Your attitude sometimes drives children towards the misdemeanor that sometimes ruins their lives. Too much pressure can cause chronic depression, which can lead to rebellious attitude in children. If you wish your child to be a healthy, confident individual, then it is crucial that you shed the overprotective parent’s mask once in a while.


You are Tearing Away their Self Esteem

As mentioned earlier, when you over protect your children, you take their confidence away, which in return deprives them of self esteem. It is important to mention here that self-esteem and confidence are two most important elements that make the foundation for a successful life. Over Parenting cripple children. Is looking after your kid over parenting? You may try to justify your overly protective behavior by saying that you are trying to keep them safe, but you are not.


You need to let your kids have life in their own way so that in the near future they can decide how to deal with little things. Whether it’s a commercial playground equipment or a school activity,give your children a certain freedom for doing things on their own.
