Train your Child’s Bilingualism while Getting Physically Fit (Part 1)

We are dwelling in an era where “good enough” is not good enough. We need to be more competitive in order to stay ahead. Our children face a massive challenge to make themselves stand out among the highly scholarly crowd. If you are in America, it is crucial that you at least understand Spanish. In this post, we will highlight how you can help your child’s bilingualism (and yours) while getting the regular dose of physical activity in a commercial playground.

Counting in Spanish

This exercise is simple. Perform a simple warm up with your kids, but instead of counting in English
Uno (oo-no), Dos (dose), Tres (trace) (move to the left)
Cuatro (kwat-ro), Cinco (sink-o), Seis (saze) (move to the right)
Siete (see-yet-eh), Ocho (och-o), Nueve (new-eh-veh) (do the twist)
Diez (dee-ace) , once (ohn-say), doce (dos-say) (clap your hands and jump)
You can gradually add the new numbers. The list of 20-100 counting in Spanish in given below:

20 veinte 30 treinta 40 cuarenta 50 cincuenta
veinte uno treinta y uno cuarenta y uno cincuenta y uno
veinte dos treinta y dos cuarenta y dos cincuenta y dos
veinte tres treinta y tres cuarenta y tres cincuenta y tres
veinte cuatro treinta y cuatro cuarenta y cuatro cincuenta y cuatro
veinte cinco treinta y cinco cuarenta y cinco cincuenta y cinco
veinte seis treinta y seis cuarenta y seis cincuenta y seis
veinte siete treinta y siete cuarenta y siete cincuenta y siete
veinte ocho treinta y ocho cuarenta y ocho cincuenta y ocho
veinte nueve treinta y nueve cuarenta y nueve cincuenta y nueve

Introduce new numbers to children as they play on their outdoor playground equipment, or engage in any other physical activity.

60 sesenta 70 setenta 80 ochenta 90 noventa
sesenta y uno setenta y uno ochenta y uno noventa y uno
sesenta y dos setenta y dos ochenta y dos noventa y dos
sesenta y tres setenta y tres ochenta y tres noventa y tres
sesenta y cuatro setenta y cuatro ochenta y cuatro noventa y cuatro
sesenta y cinco setenta y cinco ochenta y cinco noventa y cinco
sesenta y seis setenta y seis ochenta y seis noventa y seis
sesenta y siete setenta y siete ochenta y siete noventa y siete
sesenta y ocho setenta y ocho ochenta y ocho noventa y ocho
sesenta y nueve setenta y nueve ochenta y nueve noventa y nueve

Tick Tock, The Time's Running Out…

“Now, today, some children are enrolled in excellent programs. Some children are enrolled in mediocre programs. And some are wasting away their most formative years in bad programs….That’s why I’m issuing a challenge to our states: Develop a cutting-edge plan to raise the quality of your early learning programs; show us how you’ll work to ensure that children are better prepared for success by the time they enter kindergarten. If you do, we will support you with an Early Learning Challenge Grant that I call on Congress to enact.”

 – President Barack Obama, speaking to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, March 10, 2009

Why Early Physical Education Matters a Lot?

The baby is born, and after a couple of months of hassle, you are back to your normal routine. Most parents, especially mothers make sure that their child has everything he needs, but they usually forget one of the most crucial things — physical education. You must be wondering “2-3 year olds needn’t to learn about physical education until they reach the school going age.” Some parents also avoid younger babies near outdoor playground equipment and other play structures. This is an extremely wrong practice.
It is true that younger children are at more risk of hurting themselves. However, this should not let us, parents, keep our children from keeping children away from nature or play systems.

Paving a Way for A Healthy Future

Did you know that children as young as one year old should be introduced to physical fitness exercise? Researchers suggest that small babies should be introduced to physical actions like hand and leg movements. Why this is important? According to the growing evidence from various researches, children who are introduced to physical activity in an early age are more like to adapt to an active lifestyle in contrast to the kids who grew up with digital devices.

“If you’re going to equalize the academic playing field, you’ve got to get the kids in early childhood programs.”
– Paul Vallas

How to Help Kids Learn about Physical Education?

The best way to help kids learn more about physical education is through family fitness; If you get fit as a family, there’s a chance that your kids will understand the importance of physical activity from the early age. Education of any kind, whether it’s physical or academic, needs to start early in a child’s life. Make sure that develop a habit of getting physically active as a family. And it has to be something continuous, not something that you try with your kids on the weekends.
I would like to conclude this post with a renowned quote that goes something like this:

“In early childhood you may lay the foundation of poverty or riches, industry of idleness, good or evil, by the habits to which you train your children. Teach them right habits then, and their future life is safe.”
– Lydia Sigourney

Playground for Toddlers: Is it Safe?

There isn’t a moment in a day that goes by without you worrying about your child. It is okay as a parent to worry about your child, but this does not mean that you have to overprotected of your child. outdoor playground equipment comes with a promise of adventure and a threat for injuries and as a responsible parent, you have to accept both if you want to see your child physically fit.

Most parents think of hi-tech gaming devices as a safe option to keep their children safe from the outdoor injuries. But they forget that where the indoors can keep the children away from injuries, it can also keep them from nurturing their physical stature and cognitive development that require substantial physical activity.
Today, playgrounds are safer than ever, thanks to the modern day commercial playground equipment that uses harmless material to reduce the chances of equipment injuries. However, no matter how safe the equipment is, there is always a chance of injury, especially in toddlers who are unable to interpret the dangerous situations. Therefore, it is important that toddlers are accompanied by their guardians while they challenge their physical and mental abilities.
Safety is our Priority

Safety Tips for Toddlers

Consider the following tips that can help toddlers stay protected during an outside play activity.

  • Make sure that the toddlers have a separate commercial playground equipment from the preschoolers. Most incidents in the playground happen when a toddler becomes a victim of a preschooler’s roughhousing.
  • Make sure that your toddler plays with a plastic play structure; wooden structure can usually cause splinters.
  • Makes rue that your child is dressed in comfortable clothing items ad shoes to avoid tripping and other related incidents.
  • Make sure to conduct a regular inspection of the playground or play equipment to make sure there is nothing that could pose a potential risk to your child.
  • Avoid trampolines; toddlers are not strong enough to keep their balance.
  • Make sure that your kids ride flexible and soft swings.

Unlike preschoolers, toddlers require a little supervision in the playground, but that does not mean that you should deprive them of unstructured play, which is also important overall child development.  So, get your kid away from his playstation and introduce him to the natural fun activities that will help him develop skills for the future.
