Why We Should Let Kids Be Independent in their Decisions?

There are a lot of ways to raise a child, but there’s no way that you could call a perfect recipe for raising a well-mannered child. Many parents believe that be keeping the reins in their hands, they allow kids to grow in a best possible way that is deemed appropriate by the society. However, not letting them off leash may not serve you well in the long run.

Research suggests that children should be able to have a little freedom in making their choices. Whether it’s a choice about choosing playground structures, or picking out what to eat for dinner, children need to be involved with various decisions in order to understand their importance in the house. In addition, children need to understand the importance of analyzing the pros and cons of a situation before making a decision.

Letting kids decide for themselves allows them to be more independent in thought, which helps them understand responsibility, the importance of being independent, and the ability to make good choices, and learn from the bad choices. When children have a certain autonomy in everyday decisions, they begin to learn the pros and cons making certain decisions that significantly impact their life.

Comprehending the value of sound decision making comes with time and practice, and by letting your kids have the independence of decision making, you are preparing them for the future. Research suggests that children who have autonomy at home are more confident in the classroom. These kids also show improved results in academic endeavors.

Do you allow your kids to be independent in their decisions? What usually do you do to make sure that your kids understand the significance of making their own decisions? Share your opinion with us through our comment section below.

When its Time to Pull the Plug…

Cell phones, mobile e-mail, and all the other cool and slick gadgets can cause massive losses in our creative output and overall productivity.
~Robin S. Sharma

If Yoda were real and he saw what today’s kids were up to, do you think he would have approved? Knowing his wisdom, I don’t think he would have. You can’t just sit and watch your kids become the victim of technology! So to help you out, I have listed down a couple of ways that can help you pull the technology plug and encourage your kids to have more outdoor time.

 Explore the Outdoors

I know what you are thinking. Isn’t walking to school an outdoor activity? It is, but it’s not enough. An outdoor activity should constitute a healthy amount of time spent with outdoor playground equipment or any other play structure. If a play structure is not available, then simply spending time in the nature is enough. However, as a parent, you have to decide how much time your child needs to have outside.
Encourage your kids to explore and enjoy various outdoor recreational areas. Weekends are great for family recreation, so don’t just sit around on the couch this weekend and plan a trip with your kids.

 Increase Outdoor Activities

Today, most children prefer tablets and a cozy couch in contrast to the fresh vegetation smell, mud and the commercial playground equipment that awaits them. The only way kids can ever consider spending their evening outdoors is if you get them the kind of equipment that they find interesting. Today, the play systems have become advanced and more thrilling, but due to budget problems, community parks cannot afford.

However, you don’t always need to have an expensive set of play systems to make things interesting for your children. There are a million ideas to add flare to your current background setting or to increase enhance the community parks.

Edify them about the Importance of Outdoors

This is the most crucial thing when it comes to helping kids understand why they need to be outside in the nature. Children are usually unaware of why they need to play outside. It is your job to edify them and help them make smarter choice about their play activities. Start early and begin to educate your children about how they need sunlight and nature for better physical and cognitive development. Do not hesitate to explain them everything about the cognitive development that can only take place when children play outside in a challenging environment.

Our children need to understand that where technology is making things easier, it is also crippling their creativity and the power to do things by themselves. We may not be able to understand the devastating impacts of technology now, but our children may suffer a lot in the long run.
How do you encourage your kids to play outside? Share your opinion with us through our comment section below and let us know what you think about the subject matter. In your opinion, what can be the best strategy to get kids to go outside?

Do We Enough Playgrounds?

Do we have enough playgrounds? No, I don’t think so. I don’t know about you, but I think we could definitely use more playgrounds. And, to be exact, we need more playgrounds with modern outdoor playground equipment.
Decreasing play areas and hoisting number of tech gaming gadgets has changed the point of view of recreational action for kids. Since the invention of PC and related advancements, our kids rarely appreciate what we might want to call 'a day out.'

Do you watch your youngster sprawled before the TV for a considerable length of time? Is the tablet truly helping your kid gain something separated from the gazillion better approaches to slaughter a virtual creature? The raising pattern of advanced diversion is a troublesome thing, and we have to discover approaches to recover our play areas before we lose our children to the computerized monstrosity until the end of time.

Do We Have Enough Playgrounds?

Did you realize that almost 42% of the schools need age-proper school playground equipment? As indicated by an exploration, most government schools need utilitarian play areas with age-suitable school play area gear. By and large, the schools need a suitable play framework that is a pivotal component in the general physical and intellectual advancement of kids.

It is anything but difficult to put the fault on the legislature, yet shouldn't something be said about us? Is it true that we are allowing so as to contribute decisively towards our kids' improvement, solid measure of dynamic play consistently? At the point when was the last time you went by your closest play area with your youngsters? Numerous parents gripe that "our play areas are not sufficiently spotless; we can't just let our kids play in rottenness." How about getting a sweeper and doing some work yourself. Why do we generally need to sit tight for the civil administration to react to our grumblings?

Another imperative thing that you ought to do is to contact your kid's school powers and ask about the play exercises amid the school. Verify that your tyke is enlisted in a school that gives everyone of the offices that contribute altogether towards your youngster's both mental and physical advancement. Likewise, verify that your kid has adequate time for dynamic play at home; the break time permitted in schools is normally insufficient.

If you believe that your community does not have enough playground and play areas for your children, then you should immediately take action and approach your local government officials. And if the government fails to take action, build your own playgrounds with the help of your community. There’s always that can be done. So don’t just sit there, do something for your children’s bright future.

Tick Tock, The Time's Running Out…

“Now, today, some children are enrolled in excellent programs. Some children are enrolled in mediocre programs. And some are wasting away their most formative years in bad programs….That’s why I’m issuing a challenge to our states: Develop a cutting-edge plan to raise the quality of your early learning programs; show us how you’ll work to ensure that children are better prepared for success by the time they enter kindergarten. If you do, we will support you with an Early Learning Challenge Grant that I call on Congress to enact.”

 – President Barack Obama, speaking to the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, March 10, 2009

Why Early Physical Education Matters a Lot?

The baby is born, and after a couple of months of hassle, you are back to your normal routine. Most parents, especially mothers make sure that their child has everything he needs, but they usually forget one of the most crucial things — physical education. You must be wondering “2-3 year olds needn’t to learn about physical education until they reach the school going age.” Some parents also avoid younger babies near outdoor playground equipment and other play structures. This is an extremely wrong practice.
It is true that younger children are at more risk of hurting themselves. However, this should not let us, parents, keep our children from keeping children away from nature or play systems.

Paving a Way for A Healthy Future

Did you know that children as young as one year old should be introduced to physical fitness exercise? Researchers suggest that small babies should be introduced to physical actions like hand and leg movements. Why this is important? According to the growing evidence from various researches, children who are introduced to physical activity in an early age are more like to adapt to an active lifestyle in contrast to the kids who grew up with digital devices.

“If you’re going to equalize the academic playing field, you’ve got to get the kids in early childhood programs.”
– Paul Vallas

How to Help Kids Learn about Physical Education?

The best way to help kids learn more about physical education is through family fitness; If you get fit as a family, there’s a chance that your kids will understand the importance of physical activity from the early age. Education of any kind, whether it’s physical or academic, needs to start early in a child’s life. Make sure that develop a habit of getting physically active as a family. And it has to be something continuous, not something that you try with your kids on the weekends.
I would like to conclude this post with a renowned quote that goes something like this:

“In early childhood you may lay the foundation of poverty or riches, industry of idleness, good or evil, by the habits to which you train your children. Teach them right habits then, and their future life is safe.”
– Lydia Sigourney

What do you do to keep your little angel physically fit? Is there a commercial playground equipment or a playscape, or is it just simple physical activity? Share your opinion with us through our comment section below.

“Just a Few More Minutes, Mom!”

What are those Extra Few Minutes Doing to your Child’s Health?

The modern, high tech gaming gadgets are very tempting for children, which is why it is impossible to unglue them from these devices at the end of the day. There’s always “just a few more minutes, I am almost done with this level.”

There is always some level that they need to complete. There will always be some level they need to complete. The big question is what can we do to keep kids away from the modern adhesive that has made our kids enslaved to the digital devices.

Those Extra Few Minutes and the Repercussions

Most parents are probably not aware of the consequences that the technological device can produce for children. Where do I begin? Let’s start with the computer vision syndrome that affects more than 40% of the population, and 23% of children among that 40%! How about that? Is it this not a worrisome thing for us? Our children have become prone to diseases that were once considered an adult illness.

In addition, technological devices are contributing towards obesity in children. I just thought of a great quote that goes like:

“My head’ll explode if I continue with this escapism.”
Jess. C. Scott

It is true that technology has helped us solve many problems, but do you really think that this is the replacement for outdoor playground equipment for young children? As an author, Jess.C.Scott, stated, technology is a tool for escapism. Do our children need to use this tool like we do? Why do they need to escape from their reality?

“Even the technology that promises to unite us, divides us. Each of us is now electronically connected to the globe, and yet we feel utterly alone.”
Dan Brown

Do you really want to introduce your child to the Facebook and many other social media networks? If your child is constantly engaged with social media platforms, then there is a pretty good chance that he ignores most of what happens around him. Your child’s reality should be playgrounds, cerebral enhancing natural active play and commercial play structures that allow them to increase their physical and cognitive strength. Digital devices do nothing but provide a solution to minor problems, and they most definitely not a tool to solve our children’s problems.

Make sure your child does not get lost in the abyss of technology by introducing balance in his life.
I would like to conclude this post through an insightful quote that goes like:

“We can’t jump off bridges anymore because our iPhones will get ruined. We can’t take skinny dips in the ocean because there’s no service on the beach and adventures aren’t real unless they’re on Instagram. Technology has doomed the spontaneity of adventure and we’re helping destroy it every time we Google, check-in, and hashtag.”

“We are never more fully alive, more completely ourselves, or more deeply engrossed in anything than when we are playing.” -Charles Schaefer

Technology: A Curse or a Blessing for Children?

We have talked a lot about technology and its side effects in the various posts, but I still feel like there is a lot we need to talk about. As the new wave of technology hits our shelves, we will have a series of new video games that will replace the old games and our children have another excuse to spend another afternoon on the couch. This is a bit worrisome for me as a mother. So, I decided to write another post regarding the troublesome impacts of technology.

The Lesser Known Side Effects of Technology

We have already discussed a lot of pros and cons of technology, so it is pointless for me to discuss them any further. To summarize, the most harmful effects of technology are associated with the physical and cognitive development of the children. Research says that children who spend most of their free time in front of a screen are 11% less smarter in technical stuff in contrast to children who spend a chunk of their time outdoors.

Many few kids participate in outdoor play activities that include engagement with school playground equipment, swing sets and other play systems that boostchildren’s cognitive activities.

Curse or Blessing?

It is hard to answer the question. We cannot simply say that the technology is a curse or a blessing. In simple words, it is both. Some people may argue that it is more of a curse than a blessing, while some people may argue that it is a complete blessing.

I like to believe that it is both. On the bright side, technology teaches our kids how to stay ahead of their game, which helps them garner academic success. According to the research, children who are introduced to technology at an early age are more smart in terms of technical stuff in contrast to children who are not exposed to basic technology at an early age. However, many scholars, argue that introducing kids to technology cripples them of their ability to think and perform different activities on their on. If a child spends his better half of the day in front of a screen, it is very likely that he will be prone to the diseases that occur to those with a sedentary life pattern. But at the same time, they get to learn a lot about stuff that can help academically.

People who speak against the notion of letting children play with technological devices, argue that in an early, tender age, children need to focus natural growing that comes from playgrounds. Outdoor playground equipment and other play systems in a playground let children learn the basic skills that equip them for a better future.

So, in conclusion it can be said that both physical and sedentary activities are an essential part of life, but we have to be careful when letting our kids near technology, because it can get them hooked.

When Kids are Bored

Is your child jaded with the regular play activities? Is he constantly looking for ways to eliminate boredom? And most importantly, is constantly spending time with a gaming device or television. Sedentary lifestyle can have damaging effects on both the brain and the physical health. This article will look into the alternative activities that can eliminate boredom from your child’s life.

Don’t worry moms, I am not going to suggest anything that will cost you your hard earned income. In fact, the ways suggested below will cost you nothing but time.

Build a newspaper House

Here is something way better than a outdoor playground equipment. Old newspapers can be of a lot of use. Therefore, do not throw them away. Engage your child in a creative activity of building a newspaper house. Teach your kids how to cut and paste newspapers together. However, do not hand kids the sharp scissors. Use baby tool kits instead.

Story Swap

This is the most common and easiest way to kill the boredom monster. Instead, simply telling all the stories to your children at bedtime, swap stories. Tell a story and then hear a story. Encourage children to make up stories.. This will help them brush up their creativity and thinking skills. One good way to play this game is to start a story and then a ask your child to finish the story.

Indoor Bowling Alley

What can be better than a commercial playground equipment? An indoor bowling alley! For this game, make your kids collect all the empty bottles in the house. Do not let them handle the glass jars and empty glass coke bottles, as they might cause injury upon breakage. Plastic mineral water bottles would do a fine job for this game. After the collection process is done, stack the bottles in line at the end of the hallway and let children play indoor bowling.

To make things more interesting, keep a scoreboard and make kids compete with each other. Competition can be healthy for children’s growing cognitive capacities. This game can be played by children of all age groups. To make things even more interesting, compete with your children; parents vs. the kids.

Bake Creative Cookies

I know you have baked countless cookies for your children, but creative cookies are a little different. This time let your kids be in charge. However, constantly supervise them so they don’t get injured. Ask the kids to make different faces on the cookies. This could be anything; children can choose to draw a face that they wish to draw. Just give them a jump start by making a creative cookie, and then hand the tools to them. This kind of activity can engage kids for hours. However, that is not the only thing good about this activity; it also engages your kids in a creative chore that enhances their imagination and mental capacity.

Do you know of any alternative ways that can kill boredom without going to the gaming devices for help? What alternative ways do you use to distract your child from the technological gadgets? Share your opinion with us and let us know what you think.

The Horrors of Over-Parenting

What kind of a parent are you? This question usually angers most parents because we all believe that we are bets at what we do, especially parenting. I am pretty sure that you are confident about your parenting style and that you have done an amazing job raising your children. But have you ever wondered why most parents have trouble with their children, especially teens? Have you ever wondered that may be some times you over do it, which leads to problems between you and your child. This article examines the horrors of over-parenting in detail. Scroll down to read.

You are Stripping their Confidence Off

The first and the most dangerous thing associated with over parenting is the lack of self-confidence in children. When you are constantly hovering above your child, supervising him each and every activity, you make him lose his confidence for making his own decisions. You should allow your kids to have some time to themselves, so they can learn to cope with issues on their own. A playground or an outdoor playground equipment are the elements that require total freedom. Without this freedom, children will not be able to unleash their creativity and learn. So, make sure that you are not supervising your child all the time, while he engages in active play.

You are Making them Rebellious

A growing body of research suggests that when children are constantly monitored or told what to do, they lose themselves and become rebellious. We are all aware of the rebellious youth issues and how they turn children to drugs. Parents rarely blame themselves when it come sot rebellious kids. Your attitude sometimes drives children towards the misdemeanor that sometimes ruins their lives. Too much pressure can cause chronic depression, which can lead to rebellious attitude in children. If you wish your child to be a healthy, confident individual, then it is crucial that you shed the overprotective parent’s mask once in a while.

You are Tearing Away their Self Esteem

As mentioned earlier, when you over protect your children, you take their confidence away, which in return deprives them of self esteem. It is important to mention here that self-esteem and confidence are two most important elements that make the foundation for a successful life. Over Parenting cripple children. Is looking after your kid over parenting? You may try to justify your overly protective behavior by saying that you are trying to keep them safe, but you are not.

You need to let your kids have life in their own way so that in the near future they can decide how to deal with little things. Whether it’s a commercial playground equipment or a school activity, give your children a certain freedom for doing things on their own.

Do you often find yourself over doing it? Are you worried that you are one of those parents who never let their children breathe? Share your opinion with us through our comment section and let others parent know of your parenting style.

In this post, we have listed down some highly engaging games that can help your child kill evening boredom without surrendering to the screens. Here is the well-sorted list of games that you can play with children of age group 3 and above.

Little Picasso

This is a fun little game that can be played with all age groups. For this game, choose a colored pencil so your kid can draw on the paper covering the table. Let your children think of something to draw and help him draw. As the game progresses, make it more challenging by adding levels to the drawing.

Find the Stowaway

For this game, grab three paper mugs and flip them. Shroud the cotton ball under one of the mugs, switch the mugs around, and check whether your kid can point out the mug where the ball is. Take turns and let your kid hide the ball and play the game with you.

Sock Hurl

For this game, set a box or pillow in the distance. Take your youngster's sock off and create a sock ball. Now check whether he can hurl it towards the pillow or the box. Take turns and keep a score board.

Fill in the Spaces

On the off chance that your youngster knows how to think of her name and spell it correctly, put down names of different objects with empty spaces. Allow your child to fill in the blanks and complete the object names. This'll help her retain vital data and work out his memory.

Pantomime

Children younger than the age of 3 can find it hard to play with commercial playground equipment, so here is a game that you can try with them. For this game, choose two players: a pioneer and a devotee. The pioneer makes movements or entertaining faces, and the devotee acts out the activity. The movements have to be sufficiently tricky that no one can easily figure them out. This is one of the most interesting and challenging games that can be played with children 3 and above.

Salt and Pepper

For this game, sprinkle a teaspoon of salt and pepper onto a napkin. Have your kid rub a plastic spoon on his hair for around a moment. Allow your child to hold the spoon over the napkin. The friction based electricity makes the pepper (not the salt) hop onto the spoon. This game can be played by children 2 and above.

Straw Enchantment

For this game, have your youngster put two straws in his mouth. Place one into his drink and leave the other outside the glass. Now let’s see how much drink can your tyke drink without spilling some from the other straw.

How to Get Rid Of The Gaming Addiction In Children?

Gaming addiction is something all parents have to deal with. If you are one of those parents who find it hard to detach their kids from the screen based devices, then this article is for you. I don’t promise to give a sure-fire technique that will make gaming in the backseat for your child, but I will, however, talking about some tips that can help you find a balance between physical and sedentary activities.

So Your Kid Loves The Screen…

You don't generally need to wheeze each time you see your youngster with a gaming comfort. Kids ought to be permitted to have a few hours alone with gaming gadgets. Here's the reason why: advanced amusements permit children to construct solid spatial and memory aptitudes that can't be earned in any other way. Also, youngsters create more keen reflexes as they attempt to battle the warlords. The little achievements connected with the screen recreations can permit children to increase self-assurance and confidence, the two most crucial aptitudes for a successful life.

The key is to discover a harmony between the two components (screen recreations and physical exercises). Most folks neglect to find that balance, which altogether affects the physical prosperity of their kids. For the most part, the sound action plan consolidates around 2 - 3 hours of physical and 1.5 – 2 hours of other recreational exercises that can incorporate TV time and other recreations.

What to do?

The inactive methodology towards life is the primary guilty party for huskiness and its connected illnesses. Here are a couple of things that you need to keep in mind:
  • Take advantage of the supper talks: It is vital that you sit with your youngster consistently and ask about his day. This fortifies your bond with your kid, as well as permits you to recognize the unpredictable activities in his life that may be the reason for different issues.
  • Evaluate your youngster's scholarly activities consistently. Screen his homework and test exercises and perceive how well he's doing.
  • Attend guardian-teacher meetings. These gatherings are the most ideal approach to keep an eye on your youngster's exercises on the school playground equipment and other academic exercises at school. Clashes ordinarily happen on the play areas, and by finding out about your kid's everyday activities you can verify that he is splendidly equipped for taking care of disparities at school.
  • Exercise together: There is no better way to get your kid off the couch than family exercise. Commercial playground equipment and community playgrounds are one of the best places to start. If you cannot afford to drive down to the community play center, then utilize your backyard. Your personal space is just as good as any playground, all you need to do is to have a creative idea to use that space.
When it comes to physically fit kids, it all depends on how you help them find a way to escape the sedentary activities. Remember that as a parent, it is your responsibility to help your kids eliminate inactive life style choices.

3 Ways to Discipline Your Kids without Being the Bad Guy

“Do not train a child to learn by force or harshness; but direct them to it by what amuses their minds, so that you may be better able to discover with accuracy the peculiar bent of the genius of each.”
― Plato

None of us mastered the art of parenting before we drove down to the parent-ville, which is why we sometimes fail at things we think we are doing the best. There is no plain sailing in parenting, especially when it comes to disciplining your children; you will always be struggling with new behavior changes and tantrums. Many parents utilize hard core methods of parenting that make their children cringe away from them. We all want to discipline our kids without being the bad guy. So to help you discipline your kids the easy way, I have assembled a little list of sure-fire ways that can help you strike without leaving a mark.

1. Be a Companion

Have you ever analyzed your parenting style? Parenting style matters a lot when it comes to taming a wild child. Children would rather listen to the friendly voice that tells them “it’s OK, try not to do such a thing in the future” in contrast to the voice that threatens them: “you do this again, you lose your gaming privileges”.
Choose a gentle tone to explain to your children the consequences of indulging in practices that are considered immoral or out of the line. Be as straightforward as possible. Let your children know about your troubles at work; share your everyday activities with them and hear about their day. When you know each other better, you bond well and develop trust. The better understanding you have with your children, the easier it will be to control their misdemeanor. For example, you can try to get to know your child more while accompanying him during his play around an outdoor playground equipment.
Children should be aware of what’s OK and what’s not through a well-structured discipline method. And, no, punishment and reward system is not one of those methods if that’s what you are thinking. Although punishment does work, but it leaves a negative impact. Avoid using incentives for good behavior; they cripple your child’s ability to control his demeanor in the long run. Instead, talk to them as a friend.

2. Find The Culprit

Do you remember the last time you accompanied your child to his favorite playground or took him to play with his favorite commercial playground equipment? Children crave parental attention. Tantrums and meltdowns are sometimes nothing but an attempt to garner your attention. You have to find out what’s bothering your child. It could be school problems or a fight with the sibling. There are a lot of reasons that can lead to ‘child stress,’ which eventually leads to bad behavior. So, find the cause and nip it in the bud.
Blaming your children without knowing the cause can lead to serious problems. Your children want you to understand what they are going through. Therefore, learn more about their problems before you sentence them to two weeks of no gaming.

3. Be respectable

Respect always equals respect. Therefore, be respectable to your children no matter how bad their conduct gets. Children can be impossible sometimes, but remember that they are only children; they don’t know better. Punishment can not only make their conduct worse, but can also make you lose your respect and love. Treating them the right way can strengthen your bond and allow you to tame the inner monster that triggers the bad behavior.
A polite message always impacts more than a harsh scold. Children might not listen right away, but eventually, they will understand how they are supposed to behave. Children are like delicate flowers that require careful nurturing. So, do not manhandle them; be patient and watch them blossom.

How Physical Activity Affects the Enzymatic Activity in Children?

Enzymes are the building blocks of any living organism. Enzymes are the catalysts that allow the metabolic processes to occur for a healthy functioning of the body. In this article, we will look into how physical activity in children affects their enzyme activity and how that contributes towards their overall health.
Before we go any further, it is important to understand enzymes and their types and functions.

Understanding Enzymes

For the individuals who are not mindful of chemicals, here's a brief presentation of these natural particles. In straightforward words, proteins help our body in numerous substantial capacities, for example, mending and repairing of the tissues, upgraded cell vitality and expanded subjective capacity. Likewise, compounds help with the assimilation of proteins and help the body use the vitality from sustenance. Here are the absolute most essential proteins and their advantages.
  • Atypical Protein Kinase C: Atypical protein kinase C (aPKC) is in charge of checking the capacity of proteins in our body. Running builds the movement of Atypical protein kinase in the skeletal muscles, which expands the general vitality levels in the body. The activity levels may not strengthen the movement of aPKC; on the other hand, a standard dosage of activity may contribute towards the compound action.
  • Creatine Phosphokinase (CPK): This is the compound that is in charge of changing over creatinine through an impetus response. Creatine Phosphokinase, otherwise called Creatine Phosphokinase, shows improved levels of action after a decent run. Youngsters who invest more energy circling in the play area ordinarily demonstrate somewhat lifted movement of CPK than the kids who draw in with a straightforward commercial playground equipment or some other organized action.
  • Adenylate Kinase (AK): Another individual from the chemical family is Adenylate Kinase (AK), the compound that is in charge of vitality control in the cells. It controls the equalization of vitality inside of the human cells. Dynamic kids ordinarily have a higher movement level of Adenylate Kinase.

How physical activity affects enzyme activity?

Physical activity impacts all aspects of a child’s well being, including the enzyme activity. When a child engages with an outdoor playground equipment or any play structure for that matter, he allows his body to switch to the energy mode. Physical activity lets the body work out the muscles that provide energy fro the whole body for proper functioning. The increased heart rate contributes towards better blood flow, which ultimately leads to a better physical health. When the body is in its best form, it allows the enzyme activity to perform at its fullest.
Therefore, make sure that your child has ample time to participate in physical activities, including school playground activities that usually involve school playground equipment, and other active play activities that get your child’s heart racing. Simple everyday exercises can do a lot when it comes to building physical strength. Let your kids participate in all kinds of activities and watch them transition into an active child.

The Modern Way of Living: What’s it Doing to our Kids?

We love to snuggle with our cell phones and laptops in bed and so do our children. It is such a convenience to answer your emails and watch a movie in bed, but have you ever thought what it is doing to us and our children. I am not only talking about the blue light, but the various other health risks that originate from the parasitic screen devices. In this article, we will look at the various cons of living with the screen-based devices.

General impacts of sedentary lifestyle on children

The diagram below shows the various side effects of letting children play with electronic devices for longer periods.
Here are some of the statistics from various researches to help you understand the damaging effects of a sedentary lifestyle.
  • Physically inactive people have a higher risk of developing breast and colon cancer. A study showed that there was a 40% decreased chance of cancer in those who regularly exercise as compared to those who lived an inactive lifestyle.
  • According to a study, physical activity put offs insulin resistance, which is the major cause of type 2 diabetes. According to a recent study, people who watch at least 2 hours of TV a day have 14 % higher risk of developing type 2 diabetes.
  • With regular physical activity you can reduce the risk of cognitive instability and decline. A research study shows that regular exercise can reduce up to 50% of dementia risk in the later stages of life.
  • The regular exercise regimen reduces the risk of child stress. Research shows that children who engage more with commercial playground equipment and other similar play structures have reduced child stress.
  • 730,000 people suffer from stroke annually. Research has shown that children who stay active from the very beginning have decreased chances of stroke.
  • Sedentary lifestyle leads to loss of muscle tissue that in the long run leads to the loss of muscular strength that is needed to perform the essential daily activities.
  • Bones and muscles require regular exercise to maintain their strength. Children who do not engage in regular exercise suffer from bone loss, which in the long run causes substantial damage to the physical health.
  • Children with less physical lifestyle are more depressed than other children who regularly engage with outdoor playground equipment.
  • Children who do not engage in structured and unstructured activities have a 20% chance of gaining excess fat as compared to those who regularly engage in physical activity.
  • Children who exercise on a regular basis have a stronger immune system that keeps the various diseases at bay.
The above statistics show the worst effects of a sedentary lifestyle and the modern living. Think about it; is it not possible to raise kids without introducing them to the technological devices? Is your child’s health worth the risk? Try to find a balance between activities so that your child does not suffer from fatal diseases. It might be challenging at first if your child is already addicted to his smart phone, but it is not impossible.

The World’s Best Playground and Why We Need More Playgrounds Like This

Today’s playgrounds and community parks do not have the enthralling play structures that once used to adorn the parks in the past. School playgrounds are even worse, especially the playgrounds designed for preschoolers and toddlers. Recently, a TED author brought our attention to an amazing playground located just outside of Tokyo. The playground is more than just a play setting for children and there’s a reason

In the recent post on TED, Author Thu-Huong Ha brought forth an interesting playground that was not only a fresh piece of play equipment to look at, but also reminded us how much we need creative playgrounds and play equipment. In the recent years, technological devices have changed the way our children think, play and interact with their peers. This escalating change is not affecting our children’s physical health, but also making them a sedentary individual. The creator of the Fiji playground, Takaharu Tezuka, had a vision to build something extraordinary for growing minds in a different way.

What’s Inside The Fuji Kindergarten?

The Fiji Kindergarten is nothing like the kindergartens you usually encounter. The structure of the playground/building takes an oval form with a single story. But that is not the only thing different about this architectural wonder; the trees grow right through the classrooms. Children can literally climb to their classrooms instead of taking the stairs. The colossal playground with modern commercial playground equipment takes most of the space where children can unleash their inner beast and have the fun of a lifetime.

The Kindergarten has introduced a unique seating arrangement that does not involve any furniture. The hollow wooden boxes are used for seating and playing (in case the children wish to engage in activity after the class.) In addition to the modern play structures, the kindergarten offers ample opportunities for children to run and have the physical exercise that they need. If we could put the enormity and peerlessness of the Fuji kindergarten in a word that would be prodigious. The structure is one in a million and is currently Tokyo’s finest kindergarten to date.

Why We Need More playgrounds Like the Fuji Kindergarten?

Fuji Kindergarten is an institution for younger kids who need more physical activity than the teenagers. The purpose of creating an open-space kindergarten was to let the young bodies explore their physical capabilities and nourish their cognitive health in order to have a better academic performance in the future. Therefore, It is obvious why we need more playgrounds like the one observed within the walls of the Fuji Kindergarten.

The first and the most important things that our community playgrounds need is enhanced outdoor playground equipment that adheres to all the safety measures. Safety is one of the biggest issues that the playgrounds face today and Fuji Kindergarten handles masterfully. The children are accompanied by their instructors at all times as they engage with their preferred playground equipment.

The other important thing that our community playground management can learn from Fuji Kindergarten is the undeniable creativity. We ought to let kids discover their hidden talents and that is only possible through modern play structures and the ample play space. Children are no longer attracted to the junk filled play areas that offer minimum play structures and no adventure.
Parks and recreation departments in every state need to invest time and effort to create playgrounds like Fuji Kindergarten playground, so our children can have the opportunity to explore their physical strength in a better way.
